52/52 Challenge :: Stripped and Refinished Entryway Mirror
I’ve been wanting to do this project for a long time. I had this mirror painted green….you heard me, green! It didn’t go at all but I really liked the color. Weird. I know. I procrastinated a long time thinking it would take forever to strip the paint, sand, and stain. I was wrong! This project took about an hour from start to finish. Makes me wish I hadn’t waited so long.
My partners in refinishing the mirror. I highly recommend Tuff-Strip for ANY project! It’s fast! Minwax Wipe-On Poly is another easy product. I love this stain, wipe on, wipe off. I wish I had gotten the Dark Walnut instead but the American Walnut worked just fine.
Like the green?
I told you it didn’t go! nuff said! moving on….
I started by spreading the Tuff-Strip on and letting it sit for about 10 minutes….I like how it bubbles! I used a handy metal scraper to scrap the paint off. hehe, funny how excited I got after seeing the wood.
This is what it looked like after it was all naked. Just bare wood. I liked it but my church pew opposite the mirror is bare wood so it was a bit to match-matchy….I couldn’t have that!
Here it is in all it’s American Walnut Glory! It’s lovely!
Sorry for the noisy (grainy pic) below. I couldn’t get a good shot with my D90/50mm lens……
What do you think of my Entry? I’m thinking I need a new RUG! What say you?
